welcome to my mash-up

(my sort of blog)

Last time I blogged in June, I was giving myself five minutes to pout. The economy tanked in MN resulting in tight finances at our church and Eric’s ministry position was eliminated. Since then, both of us have sought full-time employment, initially in Minnesota, but open to anywhere with a population over 1,000.

Our long-time friend, Rick Lorimer, contacted us several months ago and brought us for an interview at Christ’s Place church in Lincoln, Nebraska. After much prayer, more interviews, and with Eric’s encouragement, I’ve accepted a position on staff beginning Oct. 1st.

This will be our second season of life in Nebraska—Eric and I met while stationed at Offutt Air Force Base, and lived there for twenty years before relocating to the Twin Cities.

Our house in St. Paul is up for rent, so we hope to find employed tenants who will share as much love and laughter in it as we did.

What we’ll miss about the Twin Cities:

  1. 1.Real Life Church people

  2. 2.My coworkers at the Apple Store

  3. 3.Trees and beautimous green stuff everywhere

  4. 4.Lakes and the Mississippi & St. Croix Rivers

  5. 5.Bike trails

  6. 6.All the museums and the Science Center

  7. 7.Pro sports

(I would add our daughter, staying for college, but between Skype, texting, Facebook, and traveling back to check on our house and bring her home for holidays, I’m not sure we’ll have a chance to miss her yet!)

What we’re looking forward to again in Nebraska:

  1. 1.Christ’s Place people & doing life with Rick & Wendy

  2. 2.Sweet Corn & other fresh-from-the-field produce

  3. 3.LIving in a college town - “Go, Big Red!”

  4. 4.About 5-10 degrees warmer year-round

  5. 5.Camp Lexington

  6. 6.Only an hour from Omaha, where old friends live, the Old Market is, and there are more restaurants per capita in the U.S.

  7. 7.What God will do in the next chapter of our lives!
